On Track but still off the rails…
Our family of three is trading the familiar comfort of our home for the open road and turning every mile into a new adventure. No more settling into routines — we’re packing up, rolling out, and driving head on into life as a family on wheels. It’s not just a change of address; it’s a whole new way of living, exploring, and growing together, one highway, freeway and dirt road at a time. Buckle up, because this journey is anything but ordinary.
Meet the crew!
Scott Weirback, The Captain - So the pronunciation of the name sounds like “We’re Back”, thus the title of this page. Scott got his Captain title from his old skydiving pilot days, not just because he was the pilot in command but because of a certain favorite drink of his.
Scott spent his days as a skydiver driver until he fell for the love of his life, Jamie, The Navigator. Scott traded his wings to put 18 years of service in as a banker, making it all the way to branch manager before taking this next step. From pilot to banker to driver, this change of pace is how we’re back on track.
Jamie Weirback, The Navigator - The planner, mapper and essential part of the team. Born and raised in a small town in California, Jamie is the more worldly part of the Weirbacks. When you ask where she is from, we usually respond, “a small city NW of Santa Barbara.” The city is Lompoc (pronounced Lohm-poke), and don’t get it wrong because you won’t hear the end of it.
Jamie graduated from and is a proud supporter of Smith College. Finding a job in Santa Barbara, thrill-seeking Jamie got into the pastime of skydiving. Into it so much that she became the drop zone manager at Skydive Santa Barbara (in Lompoc. Don’t get me started!). After meeting The Captain in 2006, Jamie was packing up her stuff and moving to Arizona, where she’s been ever since. With the travel bug still biting, the family travels a lot and focuses free time on trips and their Disney addiction. The main reason we’re back on track!
William Weirback, The Adventurer - After just turning 12, he’ll be the one trying to balance adventure with middle school education on the road. William, luckily, hasn’t fallen into the social media crowd and shows interest in art and design. His biggest concern is how many stuffed animals get to come on the adventure with him. Maybe 6 or 7. Yeah, I know what I did.
William’s biggest interest right now is scorpions, and while he has a few cuddly and stuffed animal ones, I don’t think this is a creature we want hanging out in the camper.
Inside our tiny world
Shrinking from a sprawling four-bedroom home to a camper so tight it feels like a Pringles can was just the beginning. Every inch of space became a precious commodity, turning simple moves like grabbing a spoon into an awkward dance maneuver. The walls seemingly closing in, but hey, it’s a big world and the odds are low that we can lose the keys to the truck right?
